Legacy Lakehouse
A space for three generations to connect
The story
This multi-generational retreat was intended to bring extended family together around a shared legacy of outdoor pursuits and an active lifestyle. Over the years the client’s family had grown and changed and the space was feeling a little constrained in a few area. They came to use looking for refinements to the space and a lighter, fresher feeling.
The approach
Our client had already made a considerable investment in their architecturally-designed mountain home. We helped them to evolve the kitchen, powder room and walk-out bar to improve limitations in circulation and storage while respecting the investment in the home’s timeless stone and timber details.
Employed texture-forward finishes including leathered Taj Mahal quartzite, dimensional ivory tiles stacked to add depth over a unique counter detail for extra functional storage along with woven wallcoverings and textiles
Reconfigured island and pantry design as well as short-term wine and cookbook storage to make better use of available space and and provide knock-proof design details
Installed contemporary lighting styled after cowbells in a playful nod to the family’s long-standing connect to the sport of ski racing
Designed a custom vent-hood to seamlessly integrate the shapes of the space without overtaking the design
Key design considerations
We delivered a timeless and entirely personal design that prioritizes function while adding warmth, creating a timeless setting for daily living and entertaining.
