Balanced harmony
Crafting a collected and simple forever home
The story
Our client came to us with the goal of completing the interiors for a custom mountain modern residence that balanced one homeowner’s desire for a dark and moody energy and the other’s preference for bright, lighter finishes. We worked with the homeowners to develop a sophisticated palette that balanced light and dark elements and created spaces in their new build home for simple day-to-day living and entertaining.
We built a natural palette of materials to include walnut, fir, quartzite and steel as well as a grey-blue finishes and neutrals punctuated with the warmth of ochre. Prioritizing spaces that would lead with a dark and moody energy and those that were lighter and fresh addressed the differing tastes of the home’s owners.
The approach
Key design considerations
The floor plan was optimized to allow for six to eight guests at one time in a compact footprint
We repeated angled lines in the furnishings and design selections to emphasize the architectural vision of the community
A hidden powder room is accessed off the kitchen to both expand the useable floor space and maintain privacy
Timber beams and oxidized, raw steel cladding were employed in delivering a custom fireplace design
The outcome
A completely tailored forever home was created for our clients. We were able to provide the function they desired in the footprint available, while respecting sometimes conflicting aesthetic goals.
