Yours + Mine >> Rampart Mountain Range
Here they are, The Ramparts. In real life.
Canadian group of seven painter Lawren Harris painted this range in 1924 as part of his pioneering new style of representing the Canadian landscape.
Getting there is a journey, even by modern standards. The range is 18 km into the backcountry in the absolutely magical Tonquin Valley of Jasper, Alberta. The trails are muddy, covered in roots and - at certain times of the year - absolutely filled with mosquitos. Still. It was worth every step and one of the most magical places I’ve been.
Interestingly this range run along the continental divide, partly in BC and partly in Alberta. Kind of like me.
