Yours + Mine >> Chenille

Fabric is a foundation of interiors. Different types of fabric have their own character and make all the difference to how a piece of furniture looks and performs.

I recently had the chair above recovered for a project using a gorgeous Kravet chenille. It is one of my favourite fabric types. With linen a close second.

Chenille is French for caterpillar and the corded look of the fabric can resemble one. The yarn to weave it can be made of silk, wool, linen or rayon. Maybe that’s why I love it so. It’s got a little bit of everything and so much depth and texture.

Looking at fabrics is a great way to build inspiration for a space. If it’s a more casual space, I’ll lean to linens and chunky weaves. Traditional rooms call for fabrics with sheen like silks and velvets.

What types of fabric are you drawn to? What do you want to know about fabric?
